I have pondered, when watching TV, that my Offense Indicator rises the longer I watch. Explicit sex, sexual innuendo, homosexual situations and hardly-clad bodies seem to litter the screen with a rapidity and concentration once reserved for cartoon chracters and silly situation comedies pandering to IQs below 100 and children under the age of ten.
The only programming safe from exhibitionsim is sports, and what with the proliferation of the criminal element within the ranks of professional sports these days, even that specter of pure competition is no longer safe from mayhem and anti-social behavior.
If I, an adult, am offended because real life is not lived assaulted by prurient images and words, then how can impressionable youth not be led to assume that adult life is consumed by sex, violence and profanity?
